RESERVOIR SOAKS UP SOUL CLASSICS

Reservoir has picked up the catalogs of a passel of soul-music greats: Willie Mitchell, Leon Ware, Norman Harris and The Commodores' Thomas McClary and Walter Orange.

Memphis legend Mitchell produced Al Green's classic records and penned tunes for the likes of Solomon Burke and Ann Peebles. Ware wrote Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Minnie Riperton and Maxwell, and his work was heavily sampled by some of the most enduring acts in hip-hop.

Harris is among the architects of Philly Soul as producer/writer/musician, and worked with Curtis Mayfield, The Four Tops, The Temptations and The Trammps; his work, too, has been heavily sampled.

McClary and Orange co-wrote multiple tunes by The Commodores, including "Brick House," for which Orange provided the "mighty, mighty" vocals.

Global syncs are already in motion, and the long-term value of these copyrights need hardly be underscored.
