17-years-old rising artist YDE has officially released her debut single, “Stopped Buying Diamonds.”
Arriving via Facet Records/Warner, the alt-rock infused track was co-written Justin Tranter—who Co-Found Facet Records with Katie Vinten—and Grammy award-winning duo Mattman & Robin. Accompanying the song’s release is an 80s-inspired music video directed by Lior Molcho, with creative direction from Darian Darling.
Filled with steady guitar riffs and electrifying production, the Australia-born and half-Filipino singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist provides an honest and unique take on growing up as a member of Gen Z.
“I came up with the guitar riff, and it felt like such a vibe,” shared YDE. “Justin brought up this horrible article about how Gen Z is ruining the economy because we don’t buy diamonds, go on cruises, or have nice houses. It’s not that we don’t want these things; it’s that we physically can’t afford them. The song is a commentary on that.”
